Description

Urea is a nitrogen-rich organic compound that is popular among farmers for its high nitrogen content, non-polluting nature, ease of use, and ability to boost crop yields. Urea can be used not only as a high-quality nitrogen fertilizer for crops but also as a feed additive for direct feeding to livestock. Recently, scientists have discovered a new use for urea: purifying automobile exhaust gases.

It is the most concentrated solid nitrogen fertilizer and comes in the form of white granules that are very hard and non-porous to prevent moisture from affecting them.

The urea nitrogen it contains must undergo nitrification to be taken up by the crop, and this process depends heavily on the soil and environmental conditions. Depending on these factors, it can be used either as a seedbed amendment or as a cover crop, but it is primarily used as a cover crop for any type of crop, preferably in warmer areas that ensure a faster transformation process. If used as a seedbed amendment, it must be applied well in advance so that the nitrogen is available when the crop needs it.

In addition to its direct use as a simple nitrogen fertilizer, it is very frequently used as a raw material for the production of compound fertilizers or blends, together with DAP and potassium chloride.
